Forged bank notes

TAMWORTH, Wednesday.
In the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Pring, Charles Coxon pleaded guilty to having in his possession at Glen Innes, on September 30, 75 forged £5-notes on the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He also pleaded guilty to four separate charges of uttering a forged £5-note at Glen Innes, and one of uttering a forged £5-note at Armidale on the same date. James Wilson pleaded guilty to having in his possession at Glen Innes certain forged Commonwealth securities, to wit, forged £5 notes. Coxon was sentenced to four years’ hard labour In Bathurst Gaol on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. His Honor said the prisoner seemed to have been a wholesale forger and utterer of forged bank notes. Wilson was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment in Goulburn Gaol.
