Petrol tax opposed.

At a meeting of the Armidale Fruitgrowers’ Association, it was decided, in the event of the Government attempting to impose the proposed petrol tax, to ask the Federation to vigorously oppose it as the tax would mean heavier production costs for the grower who depended on this fuel for his power. It was considered that the tax was largely provided for the city person using their cars during weekends for pleasure, and the man on the land was to suffer.
