Man shot in Leg During Pursuit by Police.
TAMWORTH, Sunday.
A man who, with others, was pursued by police was shot in a leg by Constable L. Somers early yesterday morning.
About 12.30, the police were informed that an attempt was being made to enter a garage in Peel-street. On their arrival, a group of young men ran away. The police gave chase, and the race continued down White-street and across No. 3 oval to the river bank.
The men disregarded a warning to stop. Eventually the constable drew his revolver and fired. A bullet entered a man’s thigh. He was conveyed by the ambulance to the hospital, where an operation was performed for the removal of the bullet.
