SCHOOL BUILDINGS. Bavin Government's Work Praised. ARMIDALE, Tuesday.
“The lament of the Minister for Education (Mr. Davies) at the lack of school accommodation, and the lack of funds to provide it, makes one wonder what sort of problem he would be facing now if the Bavln-Buttenshaw Government had lacked courage to tackle the question vigorously,” said Mr. D. H. Drummond, M.L.A.
“What kind of problem would Mr. Davies now be facing If the last Government had yielded to the importunities of Messrs. Lang, Davies, and company, and had refrained from carrying out its unemployment scheme, under which thousands of tradesmen found work?” he asked. “Since Mr. Davies took office he has opened, or is about to open, the following schools, all built under that scheme at a total cost of over £200,000: Newcastle Domestic Science School, East Lambton Public School, Grenfell Intermediate High School, Parkes Intermediate High School, additions to Wagga Wagga High and Rural School, additions to Armidale High and Commercial School. Mortdale Public School, and Manly Domestic Science School.”
