£250,000 FIRE AT INVERELL
INVERELL, Monday.
Fire early to-day destroyed most of Inverell’s newest and biggest shopping block.
The blaze, which broke out shortly after midnight, caused damage estimated at nearly £250,000 to a timber yard and hardware store.
A car showroom in the building was also severely damaged by smoke and water.
A series of explosions rocked the building as flames reached a quantity of highly inflamable liquid in front of the premises.
The fire was the biggest in Inverell for some years.
Detectives are investigating its cause.
