DAMAGE AT ARMIDALE
COLLAPSE OF £7000 BRIDGE
Sydney, Monday.
Further torrential rain fell last night and. flooded Dumaresq Creek, with the result that considerable damage was done to the town of Armidale. Lands which never before have been under water have been inundated. A new £7000 bridge, constructed in March by the Main Roads Board, has collapsed.
North Armidale has been separated from the other parts of the town by a raging torrent. The gas supply has been cut off, and the local newspapers have been obliged to make their own arrangements for heating and power purposes, as supply cannot be guaranteed for a week.
