Communistic Junta

Tuesday 11 August 1931, The Sydney Morning Herald

Speaking at a meeting of Country party supporters at Armidale, Mr. D. H. Drummond, M.L.A., said that recently a supporter of the Labour party stated in his hearing that he did not think that out of the 90 men in the Assembly more than one man subscribed to the doctrines of Mr. Lang. Why then was it that he was able to play ducks and drakes with a great State?

“It is because it is not the Labour party that is in power,” said Mr. Drummond. “It is because this State is under the control of an extra Parliamentary Communistic Junta that uses Mr. Lang and his colleagues as the Punch and Judy proprietor uses his marionettes. This Junta calls the tune and Mr. Lang and his pals dance to it.”
