HILLGROVE, Monday

The Archbishop of Sydney arrived at Hillgrove yesterday with the Bishop of Grafton and Armidale. The Archbishop preached to a large congregation in the evening. To-day the party joined by Bishop Stretch (of Brisbane), Canon Pritchard (Goulburn), Miss Saumarez Smith, and Mrs. and Miss Green, proceeded down the falls, and after a picnic lunch the whole party visited the face of Cooney tunnel, at the Hillgrove Proprietary Mine, now in 1120ft. The party afterwards visited the Sunlight mine. The Archbishop went through the bottom tunnel, and examined the electric hauling plant. He was very much interested with all he saw. After a hurried look at the Baker’s Creek machinery a special truck landed the party safely on top, and they left for Armidale.
